Located in the heart of charming Bucks County, the Black Bass was built in 1745 and is one of the oldest inns in the country. It's a wonderful B&B full of historic charm that sits right on the Delaware River, with amazing views. It’s a traditional 1740’s country inn, and there is even the historic Lumberville General Store with a coffeehouse, deli and bakery just across the street.
There are plenty of things in the area for your guests to do, from exploring the small towns and covered bridges to antique shopping and sightseeing. The Delaware Canal towpath trail is a few steps from the Black Bass and the Lumberville-Raven Rock pedestrian bridge, located behind the inn, crosses the Delaware River and leads to bucolic Bulls Island State Park in New Jersey and another canal trail.
This is a picturesque setting for outdoor weddings under tall trees and located just across the street from the Inn itself. This is also where one of the bridal suites is located, with the other above the General Store. This ceremony space, called the Terrace in the Woods is small, intimate and truly beautiful, like a woodland getaway. The light is beautiful filtering through the tall trees and a pond and waterfall are a great background for your ceremony. It's a perfect spot for a first look or after-ceremony wedding photos. I also like to get the bride and groom in front of the historic Black Bass, which has interesting doorways, nooks and accents. The Lumberville Bridge also offers cool photo possibilities.
And all you need to do is walk across lightly traveled River Road and enter the Inn for cocktail hour and dinner. The indoor space is cozy, as is the large deck overlooking the Delaware River. Your guests will love the river view, and the patio has fire pits for those chilly evenings. The ambience of this historic inn combined with the river views and small-town charm make for a wonderful Bucks County experience.
